Welcome to Lucy's House

Built in 1837, Lucy’s House has stood along North Main Street for nearly two centuries. Its rooms hold the stories of the people who lived, worked, created, and served the Hudson community here.

Today, the Greek Revival home has been thoughtfully restored and preserved as a place where visitors can experience Hudson’s history, appreciate its art and architecture, and even stay overnight in the heart of the city’s historic district.

A House With A Storied Past

Lucy’s House was home to Lucy Lake, a local tailoress who owned the property and worked in Hudson for more than three decades.

Lucy shared the home with her mother, Lucinda Hurn Markillie, whose handwritten journal documented her 1833 journey from Lincolnshire, England, aboard the sailing ship Westmoreland. The original leather-bound journal is now preserved in the Hudson Library Historical Archives.

Decades later, the home belonged to Percy Dresser, Hudson’s Clock Master. Percy lived here from 1922 to 1955 while serving the community in several civic roles, including Night Watchman, Township Constable, Marshal, Street Commissioner, and Custodian of the Clock.
